This book is about the history of the eight distinct families (great-grandparents) of my father, David Koehler Lukefahr, who between 1831 and 1859, all migrated from Germany to America and settled in southeastern Missouri. These were the Lukefahr, Eggert, Moll, Winkler, Koehler, Kern, Glaser, and Braun families. This book pays homage and deep respect to our ancestors for their courage and sacrifices. Written in first-person narrative, each of these families has an amazing tale to share with you! In addition, family photos and trees, ship passenger and census records, and geographic maps are included. A collection of stand-alone stories as chapters are as well included. For example, stories include the bravery of field gunner, Sgt. Egidius Moll who was an artillery soldier during the Napoleonic Wars, the 1839 ship voyage of the Lukefahr family, the service of many of our ancestors who were Union Army soldiers during the Civil War, and the long but tragic life of Katharina (Rottler) Braun. The last chapter is a tribute to my father, LT David K. Lukefahr, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. The author encourages extended family members who visit this Amazon site to contact him by email (slukefahr@gmail.com) with questions or comments about the book. Read more
